Wellbeing Arts is a Bristol Public Health arts on referral programme. The sessions are for anyone wanting to improve their wellbeing and social interaction and are aimed at promoting and protecting Health and Wellbeing.
The sessions take place in a relaxed atmosphere, with no pressure, which helps lower stress and anxiety.
People who are socially isolated
Attending sessions, being involved, making friends and being valued all help tackle isolation.
People coping with chronic pain
Becoming absorbed in the creative process provides a positive distraction from pain.
People facing change or loss
The creative thinking process transfers to problem solving in general life and inspires life changes.
The referral process
In order to attend Wellbeing Arts you must be referred by a health practitioner such as your GP. You can download a referral form here and ask your health practitioner to sign it. Referral forms will be passed to the lead artist who will contact you directly to assess your suitability and establish any support needs you may have. Your data is held securely and confidentially. This process usually takes a week in total after which you will be invited along to the sessions.
An unchallenging environment where peace and quiet reigns...
...meaning we're free to chat while we work, but if we simply want to get on with things without conversation, that's fine too. I never imagined that I would not be stressed and tense again.
